Tell us your family history!

As part of the exhibit Open for Business: Photography, Trade, and Self-Image 1870—1950, we are seeking photographs of family businesses—from the dawn of photography to the 1980s. If someone in your family owned or worked at a small business, we’d like to include your photograph(s) as part of our exhibit.

The goals of this project are to:

• enrich the exhibit by celebrating photographs with vibrant family business histories from the Wilmington area and beyond.

• provide visitors with new opportunities for meaningful engagement with digitized materials that showcase family and business histories.

The images sourced in this project will be included digitally in Open for Business: Photography, Trade, and Self-Image 1870—1950, viewable to all visitors. They will then be made available as part of the permanent online exhibit.

Winterthur reserves the right to use these images to display in the Society of Winterthur Fellows Gallery, September 10, 2019—January 5, 2020, and in an online version of the exhibit at winterthur.org.
